Snap together flooring tools. When installing plank flooring (whether wood or vinyl, etc), the first thing you need to do is decide your floor layout and which direction you want to install. Continue until you reach the last piece. Typically, you’d run your rows parallel to the longest wall in the room.

Alternate starting each new row with full and then half tiles so the seams are staggered between rows. Wood wedges are excellent spacers. Once the tiles are in place, you can then snap in the edge pieces, if you purchased them.

It snaps together by lining up the planks at an angle and then flattening out the row being installed (image 2). Place the rapidprep underlayment to absorb shock and block moisture. To save the edges of the flooring boards, use a piece of scrap wood to tap adjoining rows together.

There is also an easier floating floor installation, using planks that snap together so that no glue is needed. Lay the panels lengthwise along the wall leaving a gap 10mm wide and snap their short sides together. Lower the second plank to snap the planks together.
